Summary: Music and Arts discussed creative plans and ideas for presentations this year at our traditional events and for holidays.

Details

Absent: Pippa, Clayton

Music and Arts is co-chaired this year by Erica and Terry. Our regular meeting date will be after potluck each month. We welcome everyone's ideas for music and art expression at Skyland.

Main M&A responsibilities for this year assigned:

Harvest Festival Music - Erica

Skyland Run Music - Sherri

Christmas Music Events - All Members of M&A, coord. with Dana Scoby again.

Ideas considered for this year: Loma Elem. Chorus, Lakeside Elem. Chorus, DeAnza student choir, handbells, National Poetry Month recognition/activity, Earth Day music and art, July 4 Music (singing This Land is Your Land, America the Beautiful and God Bless America, Stephen accompanying.) Also considering karaoke/open mike/jam/poetry session events, with special summer coffee night events.

Suggestion was made that we have more upbeat pace to some of our traditional hymns and maybe some more contemporary songs, with a "song service leader" at the front to help familiarize everyone with the new songs when needed.

Carol Greene stopped by and agreed to create a special song for Earth Day, April 19, and teach it to everyone for singing in Whitaker Hall after services. Art projects will be done in advance by Sunday Schoolers and used in the special Earth Day presentation.

Respectfully Submitted

Kacie Clark, Recording Secretary
