The meeting was hosted by Fern and was called to order by Jackie at 10:40 a.m.

Jackie gave the devotional reading.

Meeting minutes for April were passed out and read. Fern moved they be approved and Mary Ellen seconded the motion. April minutes were approved.

No Sunshine Cards were sent.

Fern submitted the Treasurer’s Report. No change in balance from last month. Account balance is $1037.14. Cake making class brought in $210 and Linda received $140 for expenses, so the profit was $70. Fern sent out one refund check for $35 for the retreat. Brenda will return checks to Deanna Arnold and Del for the collage class, which they were unable to attend. Brenda will also mail Fern a check from Carol Green to attend the collage class.

Old Business

• Cake Making Class taught by Linda Heyes had seven people attend. Everyone learned some special techniques to decorate cakes.

• Collage Class taught by Christina Lopp had three people attend. Those who attended thought the class was well worth taking.

• Wine Tasting – Contact Jackie Seymour. May 8th from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Bring a plate of appetizers to share. 20 people currently signed up.

New Business

• Speaker in church by the front door is not working. Jackie will have John check into it.

• Possible Places to Donate Our Money – Mary Ellen had a letter stating what programs Valley Churches United support. Jackie will ask Nancy Jo for information on the Santa Cruz Mountain fire victims. Jackie will get information for the Rebele Family Shelter in Santa Cruz. We pay $336 for the Indian Boy each year through Children Incorporated. Fern will research the Women’s Crisis Center in Santa Cruz. Decisions to be made at the June meeting.

Our last meeting will be June 2, 2009 at Nancy Jo’s house. The meeting will start at 11:00 and a potluck will follow. Jackie has the sign up sheet for the potluck if you have forgotten what you were bringing. Next month’s devotional will be read by Carol Greene.
