Serving Our Community
Due to concerns about transmission of the Coronavirus, all community events at Skyland Church are canceled. Please check back to see when we will gather for worship or for other gatherings in Whitaker Hall. We are being especially cautious given the demographics and the health conditions of many in our mountain community.
We will get through this, in the same way that the good and dedicated members of our community have worked and prayed for God’s guidance together in the past.
We exist to serve people in our community and offer a number of programs including:
We have a new food pantry that is on the steps of the sanctuary and is always open. This is one of the most concrete ways we can help our mountain neighbors. We are working with a number of organizations, including the Loma Prieta Community Foundation, Firesafe Councils, and the public on fire safety.
Other Annual Events
Besides our annual Christmas and Easter events, our biggest event of the year is the Harvest Festival, usually held on a Saturday in September.
Other events include a Pasta Dinner in late January or early February and an Independence Day Service & Barbeque on a Sunday around July 4th,
Coffee Hour & Pot Luck Lunch
On the third Sunday of every month, we have a pot luck lunch in Whitaker Hall after the regular church service. On other Sundays, we have a coffee hour with snacks and refreshments. Volunteer church members are responsible for setting up the coffee hour and potluck, as well as serving and cleaning up afterwards.
