Call to Worship

Holy God, through the depths of your love, our hearts are connected as we gather in our separate homes during this challenging time. We take this time to offer you our love and praise in the name of your son, who shares an everlasting fountain of love with every person in every land. Amen.

Prayer for this day:

Artist of souls, you sculpted a people for yourself out of the rocks of wilderness and fasting. Help us as we take up your invitation to prayer and simplicity, that the discipline of these forty days may sharpen our hunger for the feast of your holy friendship and whet our thirst for the living water you offer through Jesus Christ. Amen.

Prayer: Offered by Jan Parker from retired Lutheran Bishop Martin Wells.

“God of healing and hope; in Jesus you meet us in our places of pain and fear. Look with mercy on those who have contracted the new virus, on any who are vulnerable, and on all who feel in danger. Through this time of global concern, by your Holy Spirit bring out the best not the worst in us. Make us more aware of our interdependence on each other, and of the strength that comes from being one body in you. Through Christ our wounded healer, Amen.”
